We are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven Maintenance Technician for property management in the greater Milwaukee area. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing basic maintenance for the properties we manage throughout Waukesha & Milwaukee counties. Strong candidate will bring a full range of knowledge (including but not limited to) general handyman skills, plumbing, carpentry, dry walling, painting, landscaping, and HVAC. The position will be responsible for the timely and professional completion of tasks to the standards of our organization.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Basic mechanical, plumbing and electrical skills to handle minor repairs
  • 1-3 years’ experience
  • Pre-employment background check
  • Valid driver’s license
  • General Liability Insurance (will help attain) / provided if W-2

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post High School or Trade School
  • Verbal and written communication skills for effective delivery of information to tenants, colleagues, and management
  • Holds self-accountable for quality outcomes

Job duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Learn and utilize company’s software to stay current on assigned work orders
  • Organize and complete assigned maintenance of properties in a timely manner
  • Inspect homes, apartments, buildings, equipment, and appliances for basic functionality, checking for faults and fixing them where they exist
  • Ensure the properties are safe and void of any danger to tenants by putting away harmful objects and equipment
  • Carry out repairs on minor problems, such as light fixtures, clogged toilets, leakages, peeling walls, furniture, and appliances
  • Clean and prepare vacated buildings and rooms to make them move-in ready
  • Manage your own work schedule along with coordination from Smart Asset leadership
  • Maintain open communication with Maintenance leadership regarding information with operations, renovations, and authorizations
  • Problem solves in a fast-paced work environment
